Waterloo Dentures Trivia - Did You Know? For long periods, many types of denture were made from real human teeth because the use of whalebone, or other substitutes, was expensive and time-consuming. The raw material came from either poor volunteers, who had their teeth removed, or from the dead; the mortuaries and battlefields of Europe provided a ready supply. Although the teeth produced by the battle of Waterloo were no different from the rest of the Napoleonic Wars, the high profile of the battle, and the relative health of the soldiers, created a fashion. 'Waterloo Teeth', with there links to fit, young soldiers, remained popular for several years after the battle. Related FilmsEmbryo | The Terror | Full Circle | Yu Ming is Ainm Dom | Olive | |
