Family Enforcer - Movie Review |
|
Saturday Night Fever (sans the music) meets The Godfather (sans the great acting) ... you look at this and you realise that the 1970s really were a fashion dead zone. If they'd had Taste Police out on the streets you wouldn't have to waste your time trying to screw the hoods on tax evasion ... just lock em up for wearing a too loud shirt and hair-cuts that'd look better on those posh poodles old ladies carry under their arm. Family Enforcer does have something going for it though, and that's Joe Pesci is his last b-movie outing before Scorsese and De Niro gave him a roll to die for - Jake's little brother Joey in Raging Bull. After that, Pesci never looked back. Even when he took the money and did the Lethal Weapon and Home Alone movies.

Family Enforcer Trivia - Did You Know?In 1978, when Scorsese was at all time low due to a near overdose resulting from an addiction to cocaine, De Niro visited him at the hospital and told him that he had to clean himself up and make this movie about a boxer. Scorsese did and supposedly cast Joe Pesci and Frank Vincent in Raging Bull after seeing them in Family Enforcer.
