Indestructible Man - Movie Review |
|
300,000 Volts of Horror! indestructible Man tells the story of Butcher Benton (Lon Chaney), a double-crossed convicted robber and murderer who dies in the gas chamber and is inadvertently revived by a lone-wolf cancer researcher who claims his body from the prison and subjects it to further massive jolts of electricity. "Butcher" Benton goes to his death in the state prison, cursing the three men who double-crossed him following an armored-car hold-up; "Squeamy" Ellis, Joe Marcelli and Paul Lowe, his attorney and leader of the gang. He vows to return and kill them and dies without revealing the location of the stolen money. Detective Chasen is determined to keep working on the case until the stolen loot is recovered. Benton's body is taken to Professor Bradshaw and his assistant for experimentation, and they manage to restimulated Benton's heart, and he revives mad, mute, immensely strong and with skin virtually impervious even to bazooka shells.

Indestructible Man Trivia - Did You Know?It was only after his father's death that Chaney started acting in movies, beginning with an uncredited role in the 1932 film Girl Crazy. He appeared in films under his real name Creighton until 1935, when he began to be billed as "Lon Chaney, Jr." (and would appear as "Lon Chaney" later in his career). Chaney was asked to test for the role of Quasimodo for the 1939 remake of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The role went to Charles Laughton.
